Wow! I cannot believe that Co-op is now officially over! It's crazy and it seemed to end so quickly...honestly this semester went by so quickly! It's so sad because That was my very last showcase EVER! I am graduating this May so I will no longer be at Co-op and I will no longer be running the Cornerstone Gazette. This showcase was so bittersweet because I am sooo excited to graduate and to be finished...but also I am so sad to be leaving my friends, teachers, Co-op and the Cornerstone Gazette. I hope that you all have an amazing summer and amazing lives! I hope to stay in contact with as many of you as I can. Even though I am moving on with my life I hope that the Cornerstone Gazette will continue even once I am gone. I hope that someone will pick it up where I left off and will continue the Gazette now that I have left. I know that God has an amazing plan for each one of your lives and I hope that you all choose to follow Him with all of your hearts. If you love God more than anything in this world nothing else matters. I am leaving for now but hey who knows maybe you will see me again sometime in the future! : ) Have a great day guys! : )

CiCi's Pizza
Written by Songbird
Our tradition for the past several years has been to go to CiCi's Pizza directly following showcase for food, fun, and socialization. Thanks to Cheryl Paul that tradition will continue. CiCi's Pizza in Pickerington has agreed to stay open late for us to all come and eat after showcase. This is not a Co-op run event so everyone need to be responsible for there own kids during this time.

Mr. Peaches Needs A Home
Written by Momiter
Is there anyone who would like to adopt a cat? Last week a very attractive, short haired, orange and white cat appeared in my yard. He appears to be a young adult. He is very friendly. We can't find his owners, so we are trying to find a loving home for him before we start calling animal shelters. We already have 4 cats and are maxed out on our capacity for felines! He clearly has not been a stray. He looks bright eyed and healthy. He wants in my house badly. Is anyone willing to be his family, or do you know of anyone who might like to have him? We have his picture if you would like to see how handsome he is. (We have temporarily named him Mr. Peaches.)
Senior Reminder
Written by Songbird
It's time for the seniors to begin looking through pictures for their senior page in the yearbook. The yearbook staff would like to receive one senior picture and three to four candid pictures to include in the yearbook. They would rather have digital copies of the pictures. Also, each student needs to write a small biography which may include a favorite scripture or quote. Finally, this year the yearbook staff is requesting that all of the seniors would sign their name on a blank piece of printer paper because their signatures will be included on their senior pages this year as well. This information can be turned in no later then the last day of Co-op which is April 3rd. Your senior pictures are due by graduation at the latest. If you have any questions on this you can contact the yearbook coordinater.

The weather's been very nice, and spring is approaching very quickly. As it gets warmer out, it's nice to eat outside, however if you're going to go to the shelter, you need to have an adult with you. Parents please also be willing to accompany students who would like to be outside.
Showcase Workers
Written by Momiter
Spring Showcase is almost upon us! That means I will be recruiting workers for set up and tear down. Set up will begin at 2:00 on April 3. I am hoping to have it done by 3:30--or possibly earlier. (Last Showcase a motivated crew of 13 people completely finished setting up in 1 hour!) We will especially need guys able to handle moving stacks of chairs with the dolly. We will also need families and individuals who will commit to stay and tear down. With a large, enthusiastic crew both of these jobs can be done quickly, but without enough help, it can take hours. So, let me hear from you. I will have a sign up list at co-op.

Spring Celtic Ball
Written by Songbird
This past Saturday March 10th was the Celtic Ball. As usual it was an incredible and fun event. Many people attended the dance this Saturday as well as quite a few of our own Cornerstone Co-op students. The dance went very well as expected. Many people, including myself, look forwards to this ball and it is always a fun dance where you get to meet and dance with friends and make new friends though an amazing night of Scottish dance and socialization. The practices before the dance ran smoothly as all the attenders practiced and learned the dances in the morning so that everything would run smoothly that evening. The practice is a great time to meet everyone, in a comfortable setting, who you will be dancing with later on. Then people left and got ready for the dance that evening. Ladies and gentlemen dressed to impress in ballgowns and suits and some people even wore kilts! Everyone walked in during the grand march and then the dance began. Before you knew it everyone was twirling around the ball room laughing and having an excellent time. The dance continued throughout the night and over all everyone had an amazing time. I hope that everyone who went to the ball had a wonderful night and I hope to see you all next year.

No Co-op!
I hope that you all had a great week! This is just a reminder to you all that there is NO co-op tomorrow. Co-op is cancelled due to the church being used at a poll for voting for the election. Because of that we do not have co-op tomorrow and we have another week until Co-op resumes. Be sure to use your extra week wisely. This extra week would be a good time to get homework done you have been putting off, projects finished which need completed and getting in some of that practice done that you have been procrastinating about for showcase. I hope that you all had an amazing week and I can't wait to see you all not tomorrow but NEXT tuesday! Have a good day!

A Night To Remember!
Written by Songbird
It has finally been announced! The date of the 2012 spring dance will be on Friday, April 13th. The 13th had twice the number of votes that the other two dates had. The dance's theme will be “A Night to Remember.” In a few weeks tickets for the dance will begin being sold. The tickets will cost $20.00 a piece. Kendra Park and Jane Ehrman are requesting that all tickets be purchased prior to the dance because they will not be selling tickets at the door. They are still searching for a building in which to hold the dance so if anyone has a church or facility that we would be able to use for this date you can let either Kendra Park or Jane Ehrman know.
Showcase Date
Written by Songbird
It has now been revealed that Spring Showcase will be on Tuesday evening, April 3rd unless it is delayed by a snow day. As we are heading into the winter weather season remember that if Southwest Licking school district is closed that co-op is also closed. If it is on a delay we will still meet. We generally have a few snow days so these days will probably be tacked on the end of the semester in April.
Celtic Ball
Written by Songbird
The registrations for the Celtic Ball on March 10th are coming in at a good pace. However, many young ladies are signing up and not very many young men have registered yet. It is not uncommon for the young men to sign up later but just so you know we need more young men! The dance is being held at the Benes Room ~ Hamilton-Williams Center 40 Rowland Avenue Ohio Wesleyan University Deleware, Ohio 43015. The practice for the advanced dancers is from 9:30am- 12:00 noon (doors open @ 9:00). The practice for novice dancers is from 1:00-3:00pm. The dance is not a co-op run event but it is very fun. I have gone several times and I have always had a good time. The cost of the ball is $35.00 postmarked after February 25th. I hope that you are all able to attend and I hope to see you all on the 10th.

Next Week Reminder

Next week, Tuesday March 6th, there will be no co-op because the Church will be used for voting in the election. A good idea for us is that we should use this week to catch up on homework we may have been putting off, work on projects for the upcoming showcase, and get in a bit more extra practice for our pieces for showcase.

Movie Review: Dolphin Tale
Written by Songbird
The movie Dolphin Tale is about a boy names Sawyer who lives in Florida. Sawyer is a very shy kid and has a difficult time talking to others and doesn't have many friends. He has a difficult time in school and the twelve-year-old is currently spending a lonely summer trying to make up for a few failed classes. One morning on his way to school Sawyers whole summer changes when is is pulled into help a young dolphin who has washed onto the beach with it's tail wrapped in a crab trap line. The dolphin and Sawyer make a special connection as the young boy tries to comfort the wounded animal. When the local marine hospital volunteers take her away, Sawyer cant stop thinking about the wounded dolphin on the beach. After school Sawyer heads over to try to see her again. He meets Hazel there who is the 11-year-old daughter of the hospital's head marine biologist who shows him the dolphin who they have named Winter and are trying to nurse back to health. Sawyer insists on coming back every day begging to help take care of Winter. Even though Hazel's dad is reluctant he gives in when he sees how Winter responds when Sawyer is around. Sawyer's dad abandoned him and his mom when he was little but Sawyer has a role model with his older cousin Kyle who is heading off to join the armed service. Kyle tells Sawyer that “Family is Forever.” Kyle later returns from overseas injured and very depressed and Sawyer tries to encourage him and shows him a lot of love. Kyle is very sad that he will no longer be able to swim because of his injury. A prosthetics specialist Dr. McCarthy encourages Kyle that just because he has lost one ability doesn't mean that he can't find something else new to excel at. This is a theme which runs throughout the whole movie which encourages people to pull together with their loved ones to make it past physical, emotional, and financial injuries. Sawyer's mom corrects him for skipping out on summer school but later after his apology, she comes to appreciate his passion for Winter and all of the marine science he's learned while at the hospital. She even gets Sawyer's teacher to give him credit for summer school for working at the marine hospital. When Winter washes up on the beach she was tangled from head to tail in a heavy rope. Her tail was broken and later it's determined that the dead tail must be amputated. The dolphin is left with a covered stump. Dr. McCarthy then volunteers his time to try to design a new tail for Winter. Dolphin Tale is a satisfying tale based on and starring the real Winter. The movie emphasizes family love and support while encouraging viewers to pursue their dreams.

Happy Valentines Day!
Written by Songbird
“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and send His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10
Valentine's Day is all about love. Everyone believes that Valentine's Day is all about thinking of new and creative ways to show love to our family, friends, and others who we care about. We look for cards with cute sayings, hearts, flowers, chocolates, heart-shaped desserts, balloons, stuffed bears, and those little candy hearts which say I love you all to show our love for those around us and to tell them how much they mean to us. This is all true however, the greatest demonstration of love, of course came from God when He sent His only Son from Heaven to the Earth to become our Savior and to die on the cross for our sins so that we can go to Heaven to spend eternity with Him. In essence, Jesus is God's Valentine to us! So as you are enjoying this Valentine's Day don't loose sight of God's great gift of love to us. Because no one can ever love us as much as He can. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! : )
That He gAve

Should Not perish
But have Everlasting life.”

The planning has officially begun for the upcoming spring dance. Don't forget that Kendra Park and Jane Ehrman are looking for some feedback on the theme and date of the dance. Although there is no date that will work for everyone, they want to give the students an opportunity to have input. The possible dates are April 13th, April 27th, and May 11th. The possible themes are: A Night to Remember, At the Carnival, or Underwater Paradise. Each highschool student may vote on a date and a theme for the dance. You can send an e-mail with your name, date of choice, and theme of choice to springdance@gmx.com. Send in your input as soon as possible so that you make sure that your opinion is heard.

Anyways, I seriously cannot believe that a whole week has passed and here we are again at the morning before Co-op. I find it slightly crazy how quickly this semester has gone by so far! Hard To Believe!
Wow it's hard to believe that we are already finished with the first five weeks of Co-op! It's kind of crazy to think that we only have seven weeks of Co-op left in this semester!! It has been really warm out this past week but it is now snowing today and getting cold once again. This has been a very strange winter so far. It keeps going from freezing cold to really warm. I wish that the weather would calm down in to some sort of normal pattern. Anyways, I hope that you all had a good day at Co-op yesterday. I know I did! : ) I think that most if not all classes are now getting started working on there songs and pieces for showcase. Be sure to keep on track with you projects and practices for showcase because it will be here before you know it! I hope that you all had a good week last week. Be sure to get all your homework done this week so you are prepared for Co-op on Tuesday. I hope you all have an amazing week and I can't wait to see you all next Tuesday!

Spring Dance!
Written by Songbird
It's that time of year again. The planning has begun for the upcoming spring dance. The spring dance is not a Co-op activity but is always an amazing social event for the students of Cornerstone Co-op to attend. Kendra Park and Jane Ehrman are looking for some feedback on the theme and the date for the dance. Unfortunately the date of the dance will not work for everyone however, they want to give the students an opportunity to have input. The dates in question are April 13th, April 27th, and May 11th. The possible themes are A Night to Remember, At the Carnival, or Underwater Paradise. Each high school student may vote on a date and a theme for the dance. You can send an e-mail with your name, date of choice, and theme of choice to springdance@gmx.com. All of the students who have attended Co-op during this academic year from 8th grade to seniors are invited to attend. The Juniors and Seniors are allowed to bring a friend from outside of co-op to attend the dance. The dress code must be followed by all participants at the dance. All dress must be modest.
“Men: This dance requires semi-formal to formal attire. If you are in doubt, err on the formal side. Dress slacks, shirt, and tie are appropriate. (please, no jeans)”
“Ladies:
~The back of the dress must come up to the bra line.
~NO plunging necklines will be allowed.
~The bust line must be completely covered; no cleavage.
~The dress must come up on the sides to your underarms.
~Strapless gowns are okay, so long as they remain modest.
~Dress length must come to right above the knee.
You can wear a jacket, sweater, shawl or leggings if there is a question about one's dress.”
The location of the dance has yet to be decided so if your church would be a possibility and has room please e-mail Kendra Park or Jane Eherman.
Winter Fashion
Written by Songbird
As the seasons change so do your clothes. Often times as winter comes we pile on the scarves and sweaters. However, it is possible to stay warm and fashionable this winter. To look trendy in any season jeans are a must. They come in millions of shades and keep you warm and looking your best. The most popular jeans for 2012 are definitely Skinny jeans, and flared jeans for girls dark washes, decorative distressing, and neon colors are all the rage this season. For guys straight leg jeans are what is in style. Black, gray, and dark blue washes are definitely some of the top colors this winter. Moving up, popular shirts this season for girls are animal prints in a variety of shades and styles as well as funky geometric patterns, and soft florals. Most popular shirt options for guys are layered graphic T-shirts with a coordinating long sleeve T-shirt underneath. These shirts are very in this season and also are quite warm and comfortable. For foot ware obviously Converse High tops are one of the most trendy styles for your feet. A close second and third for girls are the Ugg boots, and also this season the moccasin slippers and a close second for guys would be Vans skate board shoes. For an extra layer of warmth graphic zip up hoodies keep you warm and looking cool. If you really want to be toasty you can pick up a wool toggle or pea coat or a sheik leather jacket which make a real fashion statement for both guys and girls! Finally hats and scarves don't have to be huge and bulky to be warm! Instead you can try a guys billed knit hat or a knit beanie. Girls can throw a crochet beret on and wrap a cute knit scarf around there neck for a complete look. I hope these easy tips keep you warm this winter while looking cool!

TeenPact
Written by Songbird
TeenPact was founded in 1994 by Tim Echols. The goal of TeenPact is to help students to realize their role as the next generation of leaders and to train and prepare them by teaching them, giving them tools, and opportunities to experience growth and to learn to understand the political process, about state government at the capital, how to value their liberty, and defend their Christian faith. Also while experiencing TeenPact students will also study the election process. Students can run for committee chairman, committee clerk, senator, and governor – parliamentary debate; how a bill becomes a lway and so much more! TeenPact is a hands on leadership school where Christian students can learn how they can change their world. The administrators at TeenPact believe that God has given every young person a large spiritual capacity and should encourage and use their God given talents. In Every TeenPact program students will experience spiritual discipleship, and will learn how to be a student leader in a safe Christian environment. TeenPact has classes in 38 states so far and it is still growing! Students who attend TeenPact will not only learn about government but they will also meet other students who will challenge them both mentally and spiritually and will develop lifelong friendships. TeenPact Ohio will hold two separate classes in 2012, April 16-19 and April 23-26. If you would like to learn more about TeenPact you can check out this link for more information. http://teenpact.com/ Though I personally have never attended TeenPact many of my friends have gone and have thoroughly enjoyed it and have learned a lot and have made great friends.

Ten Favorite Things About Winter
Written by @ l ; n @
Probably my favorite activity to do when there's a lot of snow is going sledding with my cousins. I also enjoy watching the snow, especially at night. It is also good for taking pictures, and I like experimenting with different angles. Ice skating is another activity. Oh! And drinking hot chocolate :-)Another activity is Christmas caroling with friends and family. Christmas and New Years Day are two very fun holidays for me. I (of course) greatly enjoy my Christmas break, and getting to see more of family. Now I know I'm crazy, but I do love cold weather, and just having everything be colder is refreshing for me.
Even More Options
Written by Songbird
Beginning today you are now able to purchase all-beef hotdogs for $1.50 each at the snack table. It's exciting for us to have another option for lunch and hopefully everyone will take advantage of this new item. Pizza will still be offered but there will not be as many pizzas ordered due to lack of sales. If you would like to have pizza for lunch be sure to sign up early so that enough pizzas can be ordered.

Issue 2 Cornerstone Gazette 2nd Semester
Written by Songbird
One Saturday night in Seattle Fabio Heuring was standing outside of a restaurant with a friend when an enraged man ran right into them. For no apparent reason the man began to beat up Heuring's friend. Then out of the blue swooped in a strange sight, a self appointed super hero in a black mask and muscle suit sprayed the enraged man with pepper spray much to Heuring's surprise and relief. Strangely enough these self appointed super heroes have been popping up all over the globe fighting crime and helping out citizens even with every day tasks. From the United States to Hong Kong these modern day super heroes are hitting the streets and helping those in need. A few examples are, Polarman from Canada helps others by shoveling snow, trying to stop vandalism, and cleaning play grounds. Super Vadclav from the Czech Republic douses cigarette smokers with water and attacks dog owners who don't pick up after their dogs. Red Arrow from Hong Kong hands out gifts and shields people with umbrellas. Citizen Prime from the United States distributes literature and attempts to get the community involved with fighting crime. All these heroes donned in tights, boots, masks, and capes live there day to day lives ready for action at any moment and ready to help there fellow citizens. However, even though these self appointed heroes are intending there actions to be heroic unfortunately some of there actions are also illegal. But, what these men and women don't realize is that you don't need a cape or mask or another identity to be a hero. You can be a hero to your friends, your family, and even people you don't know. You can donate to a charity, give your time to someone in need, and so much more to be a hero in their eyes. No tights necessary!

Remember The Rules
Written by Songbird
Hey Everyone! Just a quick reminder since we have been out for a few weeks now. Remember that unless you are in the covered area in front of the church you need an adult with you outside anywhere else.(not that you would want to go out there since it is so cold right now) Also remember to keep your food over the tarps by the tables set up for eating lunches and not on the couches. The church is very considerate for allowing us to have Co-op in there church so please remember to respect the building and the Co-op rules. For the rest of the rules you can read the Cornerstone Co-op handbook. Also please remember to arrive to Co-op early so you can be in your classes on time. This is a courtesy not only to the teacher but also to your fellow classmates. I hope you all had a great Christmas break and I know this is going to be another amazing semester at Cornerstone Co-op! : )
Movie Review: Puss In Boots
Written by Songbird
The movie Puss In Boots tells the “tail” of the life and childhood of Puss In Boots. Puss began life as a lonely tabby taken in by an orphanage. He quickly became friends with another young fellow outcast named Humpty Dumpty. He made his way in life sharing Humpty's dreams of someday finding magic beans and climbing a beanstalk to a golden egg kingdom in the sky. One day Puss heroically saved an endangered person and earned his boots as a symbol of honor and bravery. However, one choice pulled the friends apart and caused Puss to be wrongly accused of being a criminal. Puss learned to live his life with with only his sword and his boots. One day he meets a thief named Kitty Softpaws she is beautiful and talented and shares his desire to find and plant the legendary beans. What Puss doesn't know is that she is working for Humpty Dumpty! And that begins the adventure that takes Puss and his friends to the golden egg kingdom in the sky. From early on Puss is known as a good guy. He was raised by his adoptive mother Imelda who taught him right and wrong. Puss is known to stand up for his friends and risks his life to save an old woman, Kitty, and even Humpty who betrayed him. Puss and his friends must fight to steal the magic beans from the evil Jack and Jill who are keeping the magic beans so that they can steal the golden goose. Puss manages to steal the beans and plant them and he and his friends climb the beanstalk to the golden kingdom and steal the golden goose. Later we uncover that in a heist that Humpty and Puss pulled as children Humpty left Puss to take all of the blame and Puss had been an outlaw the rest of his life. In the end Humpty gives up his life to protect the town and save the golden goose. Humpty's outer shell shatters leaving a solid inner golden egg behind. “I always knew you were good inside.” Puss says and forgives Humpty. Puss in Boots is an action packed fun “tail” that gives a character-driven, intelligent story which dares us all to earn our own boots for our own acts of heroism and attempts to do the right thing. In my opinion Puss In Boots is a great movie that the whole family can enjoy!

Christmas Break Is Now Over!
Wow here we are once again at the night before Co-op. I can't believe that Co-op resumes TOMORROW! I'm pretty excited to start all my new classes and see all my Co-op friends but I wish Christmas break was a little longer. I hope that you all have had a great week. Since we have been on break for a while just a few reminders... PLEASE try to leave your house early so that you will arrive to your first class on time. Also once you arrive please plan enough time to get to your class. I know it's tempting to talk to friends you haven't seen in a long time in the halls and to loose track of time. But, as a courtesy to your teachers and your other classmates please try to arrive to class early or at least on time. Make sure that you have all your homework compleated for your continuing classes. Also make sure that you have all of your supplise that you need for all your new classes. I hope that you are ready because it's going to be another great semester at Cornerstone Co-op!
