Reminder!

Hey Everyone!
Wow we are done with yet another week at Cornerstone Co-op...Crazy isn't it?! I cannot believe that we just finished week 8 of 12! We only have four weeks of Co-op left until showcase. Since we are in such major crunch time now be sure to be practicing your pieces for showcase and finishing your projects. I don't know if it's just me or not but this semester has gone by so quickly it's kind of crazy! Co-op today went well. I could not believe how warm it was outside! It was so beautiful out. It was still a bit cool but compared to how it has been it was really quite warm and enjoyable. I know alot of students and adults alike were spending some time in the sun today during there breaks. Since we are now rapidly approaching showcase be sure to stay on top of all your homework and to practice hard. Just a reminder to you all WE DO NOT HAVE CO-OP NEXT WEEK due to voting at the church. This one week off will give you the oppertunity to catch up on projects and homework that you need to get finished so USE IT WISELY! I hope you all had a great day at Co-op today and I can't wait to see you all in two weeks! : )

A Night To Remember!
Written by Songbird
It has finally been announced! The date of the 2012 spring dance will be on Friday, April 13th. The 13th had twice the number of votes that the other two dates had. The dance's theme will be “A Night to Remember.” In a few weeks tickets for the dance will begin being sold. The tickets will cost $20.00 a piece. Kendra Park and Jane Ehrman are requesting that all tickets be purchased prior to the dance because they will not be selling tickets at the door. They are still searching for a building in which to hold the dance so if anyone has a church or facility that we would be able to use for this date you can let either Kendra Park or Jane Ehrman know.

Showcase Date
Written by Songbird
It has now been revealed that Spring Showcase will be on Tuesday evening, April 3rd unless it is delayed by a snow day. As we are heading into the winter weather season remember that if Southwest Licking school district is closed that co-op is also closed. If it is on a delay we will still meet. We generally have a few snow days so these days will probably be tacked on the end of the semester in April.

Celtic Ball
Written by Songbird
The registrations for the Celtic Ball on March 10th are coming in at a good pace. However, many young ladies are signing up and not very many young men have registered yet. It is not uncommon for the young men to sign up later but just so you know we need more young men! The dance is being held at the Benes Room ~ Hamilton-Williams Center 40 Rowland Avenue Ohio Wesleyan University Deleware, Ohio 43015. The practice for the advanced dancers is from 9:30am- 12:00 noon (doors open @ 9:00). The practice for novice dancers is from 1:00-3:00pm. The dance is not a co-op run event but it is very fun. I have gone several times and I have always had a good time. The cost of the ball is $35.00 postmarked after February 25th. I hope that you are all able to attend and I hope to see you all on the 10th.

God's World News
Written by Songbird
There is a very cool opportunity if anyone is interested in going in on a God's World News group subscription. If 12+ people would like to participate then a school-year subscription (Sept-April) will only cost $9.95.Cris Letourneau is willing to coordinate the ordering and delivery if people would like to participate and if it's OK to put the magazine in your folder at co-op. 6 different grade levels are offered from Pre-K to high school. You can go to their web page Subscribe to God's World News for more information. You can let Cris Letourneau know which magazines you would like by March 8th at the latest and she will take it from there.

Next Week Reminder
Written by @ l ; n @
Next week, Tuesday March 6th, there will be no co-op because the Church will be used for voting in the election. A good idea for us is that we should use this week to catch up on homework we may have been putting off, work on projects for the upcoming showcase, and get in a bit more extra practice for our pieces for showcase.

Movie Review: Dolphin Tale
Written by Songbird
The movie Dolphin Tale is about a boy names Sawyer who lives in Florida. Sawyer is a very shy kid and has a difficult time talking to others and doesn't have many friends. He has a difficult time in school and the twelve-year-old is currently spending a lonely summer trying to make up for a few failed classes. One morning on his way to school Sawyers whole summer changes when is is pulled into help a young dolphin who has washed onto the beach with it's tail wrapped in a crab trap line. The dolphin and Sawyer make a special connection as the young boy tries to comfort the wounded animal. When the local marine hospital volunteers take her away, Sawyer cant stop thinking about the wounded dolphin on the beach. After school Sawyer heads over to try to see her again. He meets Hazel there who is the 11-year-old daughter of the hospital's head marine biologist who shows him the dolphin who they have named Winter and are trying to nurse back to health. Sawyer insists on coming back every day begging to help take care of Winter. Even though Hazel's dad is reluctant he gives in when he sees how Winter responds when Sawyer is around. Sawyer's dad abandoned him and his mom when he was little but Sawyer has a role model with his older cousin Kyle who is heading off to join the armed service. Kyle tells Sawyer that “Family is Forever.” Kyle later returns from overseas injured and very depressed and Sawyer tries to encourage him and shows him a lot of love. Kyle is very sad that he will no longer be able to swim because of his injury. A prosthetics specialist Dr. McCarthy encourages Kyle that just because he has lost one ability doesn't mean that he can't find something else new to excel at. This is a theme which runs throughout the whole movie which encourages people to pull together with their loved ones to make it past physical, emotional, and financial injuries. Sawyer's mom corrects him for skipping out on summer school but later after his apology, she comes to appreciate his passion for Winter and all of the marine science he's learned while at the hospital. She even gets Sawyer's teacher to give him credit for summer school for working at the marine hospital. When Winter washes up on the beach she was tangled from head to tail in a heavy rope. Her tail was broken and later it's determined that the dead tail must be amputated. The dolphin is left with a covered stump. Dr. McCarthy then volunteers his time to try to design a new tail for Winter. Dolphin Tale is a satisfying tale based on and starring the real Winter. The movie emphasizes family love and support while encouraging viewers to pursue their dreams.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines Day!
Written by Songbird
“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and send His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10
Valentine's Day is all about love. Everyone believes that Valentine's Day is all about thinking of new and creative ways to show love to our family, friends, and others who we care about. We look for cards with cute sayings, hearts, flowers, chocolates, heart-shaped desserts, balloons, stuffed bears, and those little candy hearts which say I love you all to show our love for those around us and to tell them how much they mean to us. This is all true however, the greatest demonstration of love, of course came from God when He sent His only Son from Heaven to the Earth to become our Savior and to die on the cross for our sins so that we can go to Heaven to spend eternity with Him. In essence, Jesus is God's Valentine to us! So as you are enjoying this Valentine's Day don't loose sight of God's great gift of love to us. Because no one can ever love us as much as He can. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! : )

“For God so loVed the world,
That He gAve
His onLy
BegottEn
SoN
That Whosoever
Believeth In Him
Should Not perish
But have Everlasting life.”
John 3:16

Spring Dance
Written by Songbird
The planning has officially begun for the upcoming spring dance. Don't forget that Kendra Park and Jane Ehrman are looking for some feedback on the theme and date of the dance. Although there is no date that will work for everyone, they want to give the students an opportunity to have input. The possible dates are April 13th, April 27th, and May 11th. The possible themes are: A Night to Remember, At the Carnival, or Underwater Paradise. Each highschool student may vote on a date and a theme for the dance. You can send an e-mail with your name, date of choice, and theme of choice to springdance@gmx.com. Send in your input as soon as possible so that you make sure that your opinion is heard.

Remember
Written by @ l ; n @
Please remember not to eat any food on the couches at Co-op. The church is very gracious in letting us use their building, and we should respect their rules. You can however, eat at the tables over the tarps just please remember to throw away your trash.

Cold Outside!

Hey Everyone!
Wow it's very cold outside today! What happened to the warm weather!?! I wish that the weather would just settle down and decide if it's going to be warm or cold outside and stay that way for a while. This constant change in temperature is driving me CRAZY! Anyways, I seriously cannot believe that a whole week has passed and here we are again at the morning before Co-op. I find it slightly crazy how quickly this semester has gone by so far! Hard To Believe!

Hey Everyone!
Wow it's hard to believe that we are already finished with the first five weeks of Co-op! It's kind of crazy to think that we only have seven weeks of Co-op left in this semester!! It has been really warm out this past week but it is now snowing today and getting cold once again. This has been a very strange winter so far. It keeps going from freezing cold to really warm. I wish that the weather would calm down in to some sort of normal pattern. Anyways, I hope that you all had a good day at Co-op yesterday. I know I did! : ) I think that most if not all classes are now getting started working on there songs and pieces for showcase. Be sure to keep on track with you projects and practices for showcase because it will be here before you know it! I hope that you all had a good week last week. Be sure to get all your homework done this week so you are prepared for Co-op on Tuesday. I hope you all have an amazing week and I can't wait to see you all next Tuesday!

Spring Dance!
Written by Songbird
It's that time of year again. The planning has begun for the upcoming spring dance. The spring dance is not a Co-op activity but is always an amazing social event for the students of Cornerstone Co-op to attend. Kendra Park and Jane Ehrman are looking for some feedback on the theme and the date for the dance. Unfortunately the date of the dance will not work for everyone however, they want to give the students an opportunity to have input. The dates in question are April 13th, April 27th, and May 11th. The possible themes are A Night to Remember, At the Carnival, or Underwater Paradise. Each high school student may vote on a date and a theme for the dance. You can send an e-mail with your name, date of choice, and theme of choice to springdance@gmx.com. All of the students who have attended Co-op during this academic year from 8th grade to seniors are invited to attend. The Juniors and Seniors are allowed to bring a friend from outside of co-op to attend the dance. The dress code must be followed by all participants at the dance. All dress must be modest.
“Men: This dance requires semi-formal to formal attire. If you are in doubt, err on the formal side. Dress slacks, shirt, and tie are appropriate. (please, no jeans)”
“Ladies:
~The back of the dress must come up to the bra line.
~NO plunging necklines will be allowed.
~The bust line must be completely covered; no cleavage.
~The dress must come up on the sides to your underarms.
~Strapless gowns are okay, so long as they remain modest.
~Dress length must come to right above the knee.
You can wear a jacket, sweater, shawl or leggings if there is a question about one's dress.”
The location of the dance has yet to be decided so if your church would be a possibility and has room please e-mail Kendra Park or Jane Eherman.

Winter Fashion
Written by Songbird
As the seasons change so do your clothes. Often times as winter comes we pile on the scarves and sweaters. However, it is possible to stay warm and fashionable this winter. To look trendy in any season jeans are a must. They come in millions of shades and keep you warm and looking your best. The most popular jeans for 2012 are definitely Skinny jeans, and flared jeans for girls dark washes, decorative distressing, and neon colors are all the rage this season. For guys straight leg jeans are what is in style. Black, gray, and dark blue washes are definitely some of the top colors this winter. Moving up, popular shirts this season for girls are animal prints in a variety of shades and styles as well as funky geometric patterns, and soft florals. Most popular shirt options for guys are layered graphic T-shirts with a coordinating long sleeve T-shirt underneath. These shirts are very in this season and also are quite warm and comfortable. For foot ware obviously Converse High tops are one of the most trendy styles for your feet. A close second and third for girls are the Ugg boots, and also this season the moccasin slippers and a close second for guys would be Vans skate board shoes. For an extra layer of warmth graphic zip up hoodies keep you warm and looking cool. If you really want to be toasty you can pick up a wool toggle or pea coat or a sheik leather jacket which make a real fashion statement for both guys and girls! Finally hats and scarves don't have to be huge and bulky to be warm! Instead you can try a guys billed knit hat or a knit beanie. Girls can throw a crochet beret on and wrap a cute knit scarf around there neck for a complete look. I hope these easy tips keep you warm this winter while looking cool!
